In this fun demonstration students will see how small particles can move through water. As the colored shell of the M&M dissolves in the water it creates a pinwheel of color.

1. Foam plates

2. M&Ms

3. Water

1. Line M&Ms around the outer edge of the plate. You can create specific patterns or randomly distribute the colors.

2. Slowly pour water in the middle of the plate ad continue to pour until the bottom the the M&Ms have water touching them. Do not cover entire M&M!

3. Watch as the color slowly dissolves in the water and moves toward the center.
